Terms of use

1 · What this service is

Crypttron is an independent search index covering technical documentation about crypto infrastructure: mining hardware and firmware, node software, self-custody devices, protocol specifications and developer material. It operates its own crawler and its own ranking. It is a finding aid, nothing more.

2 · What it is not

3 · Third-party content

Results point to pages published by other people. Crypttron does not write, own, endorse, verify or control that material, and its accuracy is the publisher's responsibility. Snippets are shown for identification purposes; copyright remains with the original author. If you publish a page and want it removed from the index, say so via contact and it will be removed — no argument, no process.

4 · Hardware and safety

Mining equipment involves mains electricity, sustained heat and significant power draw. Firmware modification can permanently destroy hardware and void warranties. Indexed material describing such work is offered as documentation, not instruction, and you carry the whole of the risk in acting on it.

5 · Accounts — anonymous login with Bit-SIGN

Bit-SIGN is an anonymous, passwordless login. An account is a Bitcoin public key proved by signature. There is no email address, no password, no username you must invent, no phone number and no identity check — we never ask who you are, because the account does not need to know. This is privacy by design: the data cannot leak because it was never collected.

What that protects, in plain terms. A password can be stolen, reused or phished — there isn't one. An email address ties an account to your real identity and to every other service you use it on — we don't hold one. A breach of this site exposes no personal data about you, because none exists to expose. Identity protection here is structural, not a promise: it follows from what is absent.

What is NOT hidden, so the above is not mistaken for more than it is: your public key is visible on your profile and is how others verify who they are talking to, and anything you choose to publish is public. Bit-SIGN makes you pseudonymous — it is privacy from us and from a breach, not a cloak against a determined investigator. The Privacy Policy lists everything that is recorded.

There is no password to reset and no email to recover from: if you lose access to the key, the account cannot be restored. Keep your wallet backup. Do not use an account to store anything you cannot afford to lose access to — it holds saved searches and an API key, nothing of value.

Two ways to prove the key, one account. You may sign the challenge line in a wallet, or sign it with the key directly using the optional signing script we provide for you to run on your own machine. Both prove the same thing and reach the same account — the identity is the public key, not the method used to demonstrate it. Choosing the optional route creates no separate account and grants no additional rights.

We never ask for a private key. No page on this site has a field that accepts one, and we will never request one by any means. The signing script runs entirely on your own machine and does not contact this site. Anyone asking you for a private key in our name is not us. Signing a text challenge creates no transaction, moves no funds and pays no fee; it is not a payment authorisation and must not be relied upon as one.

6 · Usernames and profiles

A username is generated for you when an account is created — for example warm_forge2422. It is derived from your public key, so the same account always produces the same name, and you are never left without one. You may change it at any time from your account page.

7 · Storefronts and selling

An account may add a storefront — a shop section built from fields you fill in, and rendered by us. Your own website is not embedded; it is linked to. That is deliberate: a page displayed inside our frame would obscure who is responsible for its contents, and many sites refuse framing in any case. Storefronts accept text and web links only, never markup or scripts.

8 · Promotion (featured listings)

A listing may be featured — placed at the top of the listings board for a fixed window. It is bought as advertising, paid upfront, and is not a commission on sales.

9 · The API

Where anything is ever paid for on this service, payment is in bitcoin only. No other currency or payment method is accepted, and no card or bank details are ever collected.

API keys are metered and rate-limited. Do not resell access, attempt to reconstruct the whole index, or run the API as a substitute for your own crawler. Keys may be withdrawn if usage threatens the service for everyone else. There is no uptime guarantee on any tier.

10 · Acceptable use

11 · Sponsored placements

Some results carry a clearly marked sponsored card, and some outbound links earn a commission on physical goods. Marked or not, a paid placement is never allowed to alter the organic ranking beneath it. Sponsorship is limited to hardware and physical products; links to exchanges, token sales, staking or yield products are not accepted at any price.

12 · Availability and liability

The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and may change or stop at any time. To the fullest extent the law permits, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service or reliance on anything found through it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to any fee you actually paid — which, for the free service, is nothing.

13 · Changes

These terms may be revised; the date above shows when. Continued use after a change means you accept the revision.

Questions about any of this go through signed contact. See also Privacy and the crawler policy.
